Penn has been my dream school and i'd like to know how much of a chance I have.

bump back onto first page
[10 chars]

I would say that it is going to be a challege especially considering the SAT (you got the same score i did), but the fact that you are a female is a boost. But what you really should do is show through you extracurriculars something related to science. It is not to late, if you have family friends that work at engineering companies you could go to work with them like a couple of days a week and help out, and that become a summer internship at an engineering company, and in addition you could get a family friend who also works there to write you an amazing recommendation.
Also, when applying try to crystalize your ECs toward your major, highlight the ones that help and marginlize the ones that don't. But good luck, and also these shows how your SATs compare to accepted ppl at different schools, but remember engineering tends to be higher.
Ivy League College Admissions Facts and Statistics

I have won some regional awards at Science Olympiad. But I have no access to any sort of engineering company, though i wish. Nor does my family really have "family friends". Thanks so much for you input!

Well, is there a local university nearby, bc what can just be getting coffee on paper could be: active particpant in biomedical research. As for the science awards, DEFINITELY highlight them. On the application you have a limited amount of space, so use it to list things related to your major. And if you have done any research try to get it publish, it is easier than you might think, one access point would be a magazine that allows individuals to contribute. But DO NOT DO NOTHING, this summer is important, find someway to boost your app.

I'm applying to Penn, this year too, but RD, hopefully they will accept both of us.

Ddate, if you read my community service part, I volunteer over 200 hours per summer and I work. I certainly do not do nothing :)

How, umm do the volunteer hours relate to science or engineering, like tutored or something. Bc the volunteering is great, but it is even better if it relates to the overall thing you are going for.

no, they don't relate. special ed teaching doesn't have much to do with engineering but it doesn't mean i can't be passionate about it ;3 means i have patience :)

but i do tutor all the time, but i didn't think that was anything special or noteworthy. its a requirement for national honor society (especially for officers)

Was the special ed tutoring for science stuff. Like were you teaching any type of science, bc then that becomes science tutoring and overall strengthens the science type slant of your application. But also remember that colleges want a variety of things so your app doesn't have to be all science related or what not, it is just for me i only have two things debate and research, so all my stuff is focused on those things.

Science stuff? to special ed kids? geez, i'm lucky i can get them to write their name :P lol

yeah i'm very well rounded. I've won regional business comps (first), science comps, sports awards, ect. plus i'm sec, tres and co pres of honor societys. I'm not too worried about the EC part of my application :)

more worried about how my stand testing falls into place with a 4.0 GPA and decent ECs.

bump.
please rate on chances to ED PENN :)
