SAT - 1800 [will take it again next year to improve my score]

SAT II - Will take next year on Math 1 & 2 and US History

Extracurricular Activities - Science Olympiad, FIRST Robotics Team, Gay/Straight Alliance

Community Service - I don't have any done but I will try to get atleast 25-50 hours by the end of the summer

Work - work all weekend long, sometimes as much as 32 hours in a weekend but on average 24 hours. I work to help support my mom and younger brother otherwise I doubt I would even be working at all.

I am going to major in Computer Science

Do I have a chance of getting in to RIT?

i would definitely work on the sat score … i don’t think sat IIs are required … my daughter’s stats were not nearly as good but her SAT score was very high … her school had NO AP classes either …

The 25th - 75th percentile range for Computer Scinece was 1710 -2020, so it looks like you are below the midpoint.

If you work on that a bit, it would help.

See page 48 for the SAT scores for Computer Science majors:

Good luck!

Agree with other posters regarding the SAT scores. If English is not your first language, the school might take that into consideration, however.

You can also consider taking the ACT and see if you test better on it. Some people do better on one vs. the other.

Your grades and rigor of the coursework are good support for your application. Experience with a competitive team like FIRST is also good to highlight in your application. RIT seems to promote its competition teams from what i remember of its tour.

Consider applying early, even if you do not choose Early Decision. It shows your level of interest. Visit the campus or meet with someone at a local college fair, if that’s an option.

Great advice about demonstrating interest.

Also, RIT offers interviews in various cities in the fall:

[RIT Undergraduate Admissions - Events Near You](http://www.rit.edu/emcs/admissions/events-near-you)

If they are offering interviews near you, sign up early when they become available, as the interview slots fill up fast.

I got into CS back in '07. Comparing your stats to mine, I did have overall higher SAT’s but came away with a notably lower math score (610). Your GPA and class placement are stellar; mine were not. I did have a lot of volunteer/job experience, but I think the “demonstrating interest” factor goes pretty far at RIT (I applied for early decision, visited the campus, spoke with a lot of admissions people, etc).

Bottom line: I think you stand a pretty good chance.
