GPA: 4.2 (weighted), 3.1 (unweighted)
SAT: 1950 (700 Math) (610 Reading) (640 Writing)
Rank: top 30% 121/419
AP's (taken): AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP World History, AP United States History, AP Physics (Calculus Based), AP Statistics, AP English III.

AP's (Senior year): AP Macro Economics, AP Environmental Science, AP Multi-Variable Calculus, AP English IV, AP Computer Programming, AP Number Theory.

EC: Chess Club, Engineering Club, Over 100 Hours of Community service, Help my taekwondo instructor teach classes.

As you can see, I kinda screwed up. I did fine freshman year but horribly sophomore year (due to slacking).

Just wondering what my chances are on getting into these colleges. Also, should I apply early to any of these colleges?

NCSU- definitely in
UNC-CH- probably in (like others have said, bumping up your GPA might help!)
Georgia Tech &Purdue- good match

Are you planning on doing engineering? UNC-CH does not have an engineering department, but offers engineering majors in the applied science department, as I understand it. Just FYI
Good luck!

NCSU: in
UNC-CH: reach. work on your extracurriculars; maybe spend your summer volunteering or devoting a lot of time to a club or something
Georgia Tech: match
Purdue: I don’t really know

Your GPA/SAT scores are pretty average, but they seem enough for the schools you’re applying to. Its great that your courseload is rigorous tho- adcoms will see that, and it will help you a LOT, trust me That said, your ECs dont jump out though- is there any passion that you have for a specific activity that can be demonstrated by awards in that area? Anyways…my predictions:

NCSU- in, UNC-CH- low reach, Georgia Tech- definitely in, Purdue- reach
