Chances on getting into UCSB

In my opinion it doesn't seem likely that I will be accepted to UCSB, but it is my top choice school and I was wondering realistically what my chances are. I live in california, and my grades are not excellent, but I am explaining this in my essay, which talks about how at the start of high school my parents got divorced, and caused me to move through 5 different homes during my first years. My GPA has an upward trend, and my SAT is going to be excellent. (I am currently a junior by the way).

So for my GPA - I am taking a few classes at a community college this summer to boost it
my UC Calculated GPA around a 3.7
I am still prepping for SAT, but based off of past test and practice tests and for the sake of this question, lets say I get a 2200 SAT score

In terms of extra curriculums , I did football and track for 1 years each, but have played 9+ years of guitar and 5+ years of piano, and have a lot of service hours

Also, for the sake of this article/question lets say that I have an extremely strong essay, which explains adversities I overcame, and although they affected my GPA along the way, how I have grown as a person due to these adversities

With all this in mind, what are my chances at UCSB realistically? I would greatly appreciate any input

*side not, if any of you have any tips or pointers about things I could do to help my UCSB application, I am open to any advice

Essays are meant to tell a story which reflects your character; it’s fine to talk about how you grew from the divorce/etc. but leave grade explanations for the “Additional Info” section.

Usually, a 1900+ will do with a good GPA. However, in your case, aim for a 2100+ to make up for it. They do favor a high GPA over high test scores, but hopefully they’ll evaluate it in light of your situation. You seem to have a passion for music. It’d be great if you could demonstrate it through your essays -maybe a story that shows how music has helped you keep a bright outlook on life despite tough circumstances?
