I know that my SAT scores are lower than the usual for UDel but it's one of my top choices. Hopefully the Nov SATs that I took will improve my R and W

I think UD is a reach for you, I’m sorry. If you were from somewhere other than NY or NJ, you might have a shot, but I don’t think you do unless the SAT scores come up quite a bit.

Everything other than the SAT looks pretty impressive. Bring that up a bit and your golden. If not you still have a decent shot but it’s not a shoo in.

I feel that if you were applying undeclared you would have a reasonably good chance of being accepted, even coming from NJ. The major problem is your intended major, Athletic Training. I believe this is one of the majors at UD that is extremely competitive for OOS students due to the relatively small number of students accepted into this major (similar to chem engineering, some art and music majors, nursing and at least several others). These majors are becoming increasingly popular relative to other majors for a variety of reasons. For example, UD accepts 42-48% of OOS students that apply overall but for OOS applicants to the Nursing Program the OOS acceptance rate is only about 20%. I do not know the % for acceptance into the Athletic Training major but I suspect it is much lower then the overall average. Your SAT scores would put you at a disadvantage as a result but you never know for sure. Hopefully your Nov. scores will be higher. One thing that I feel is strongly in your favor is your very high class rank (close to top 5-7%), especially with the rigor of the courses you have taken in HS. A very high class rank with rigorous courses can sometimes compensate for competively low SAT scores. UD is really a sticker for the rigor of HS courses and a students resultant GPA and class rank, probably more so than most other major elite universites. Put a lot of effort into your first semester courses and get as high grades as possible and then get them to UD ASAP. Also schedule a full course load (5) of major courses in your second semester (this is critical). Both these things would help your chances. Best of luck to you. I would not give up hope.

Thanks. In UD, athletic training isn’t really a major. It’s a track where you have to apply to the actual program sophomore year (I believe). Thank you for your input! I just sumbitted my application and decision is pending!
