Ok, heres the deal. I'm applying to some boarding schools for my 11th and 12th grade. I'm applying to Andover, Exeter, and Groton. I dont know if anybody here has been to any of these schools, or knows about what it takes to get into them- lets put it this way. Last year, Andover had 191 applicants for its Junior year. They accepted 27.

So, I'm worried. If anybody knows about these schools, could you tell me what you think of my chances?

1018 on the SSAT- 98th percentile.

I took AP US history as a 9th grader, got a 5, am taking 3 APs this year.

Ive completed my tour and interview, and I thought they went very well. Applications were in on time, I though my essays were good- that stuff is normal.

Problem- Im homeschooled. All these schools accept homeschoolers, and they try to test for problems in the interview and with your transcript.

What do you guys think?

EDIT: Oh yea, extracurriculars. I dont play sports, but I take my theatre very, very seriously.

here's the deal, i know nothing. but i realize its nice to have people respond. so, here's me ********ting... ready?

i have no clue what the ssat is but yay for 98%
that's a lot of APs you crazy crazy boy/girl... i dont know what gender you are.
do these schools like jocks or theater? i love theater, but it may not be what they're looking for. whatever, at least you're dedicated to something.

anyway, basically, i -like every other poster on this board- have no idea. its fun to be praised and reassured so: you'll definitely get it! you're a genious!

I don't think the fact that you're homeschooled is a big problem. But they might look into it. I think it's kinda weird how you're jumping from home-schooled environment to a boarding school one... polar opposites.

I think you stand a fair chance. The admissions people should understand that you dont have ECs due to the homeschooling issue. you should probably show your passion and dedicated to theater in your apps to compensate for the lack of sports.

the Andovers admission rate you gave: did they accept 29 out of 191 or did they enroll 29? You have to take the yield rate in account. Like at Exeter last year for the 10th grade, they accepted 130 out of 400 or something, and 80 chose to attend. Yield rate 65% there... Andover's is 80 or 85 I think.
