I'm sorry but I have to ask the question that has been asked so many times: Can I get it?

I'm a white male and I go to a small public school in the middle of nowhere in Massachusetts.

SAT: 690v, 680m, 690w
SATII: 610 Literature, 700 Math I
GPA: 3.9 weighted
Class Rank: 4/109

I've taken all the hardest classes possible but my school doesn't offer that many APs. I've taken AP Chem (3 on the test), AP Language (4 on the test), and AP Envi. Sci (5 on the test). This year I have AP Calc and AP U.S. History and some other honors classes.

Main Extracurriculars:

-President of National Honor Society
-Treasurer of Student Council
-Vice-President of Class
-Special Olympics Coach
-Band/Jazz Band and other musical activities
-Steady job at the local coffee shop since 10th grade
-Soccer throughout high school (not very good though)

My recommendations were good but I have no idea how my essays are.

I realize that if I was just another OOS applicant this would be a joke application. However, I thought that since my mom went to UVa I might have a chance because I am a legacy.

If anyone could let me know what you think I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Additionally, about 10% of UVA is legacy. Plus, your application is definitely not a 'joke' for an out of stater. While it's admittedly harder to get in OOS, it could have been within your reach nonetheless. The fact that you will be considered as an instater instead substantially increases your chances.

you have a good chance, regardless of legacy. like i've said many times before, you're evaluated on how well you do at YOUR highschool. I only took 5 ap classes. i think either 8 or 9 were offered at my high school, and 2 were in spanish - which i did not take. The key is you have to do WELL in all your classes. Your 4/109 rank shows that you did. Your sats are solidly in UVA's range. Also, you show leadership in all your cocurriculars. I think you'll be competitive!

Thank you so much for responding. I applied ED to Cornell and got rejected so I was not feeling very good about my life. Hopefully I will get in here though.
