Also, that “leadership conference” is not a big deal. Getting invited to that is equivalent of saying “I’m an honors student.”</p>
<p>Your SAT score is obviously not an issue, but your GPA, class rank, and ECs will not make you as competitive as other OOS applicants for what has become a very selective school now that they admit through the Common Application. This makes you a reach. On another topic that more than likely will not come into play, is your mom or dad WILLING to shell out $55K per year if you were accepted?</p>
<p>I would say you’re a reach for Michigan. The only thing you really have going for you is that SAT score. Besides that, you’re ECs are not particularly strong and your GPA is really weak. Even for IS I wouldn’t like your chances but with how much more competitive OOS is getting, you have a serious uphill climb. The best you can do is make sure you get a 4.0 this semester and write some excellent essays. That would maximize your chances but still wouldn’t make them that good.</p>
