Hi, I was wondering if anyone could recommend colleges to go to (maybe big names, if applicable) or give me some feedback on what I can improve.

GPA: UW 3.55, W 3.61
SAT: 1560 (planning to retake)
class rank: 206/562
Hispanic

AP Classes taken (or will be taken)- European History (10), Psychology(11)

Senior year classes: Literature(12), Statistics (12), Honors and AP Spanish 4 (honors and ap are blocked), AP Government/Econ, Business Law, Teacher Intern for history class.

EC:
Link Crew (12) helps bridge freshman to high school
Soccer on Club team (11-12)
Soccer Referee (12)
Part-time employee at unemployment center (11-12)
Volunteer at program for underprivileged children. (12)

Chance me for:
Any university that may accept me (:

What is your home state? And what can your parents afford to pay?

I live in the Bay Area, Northern California.
& my parents can pay less than $30,000 a year, but I can possibly get local grants to help out.

If your parents can pay about $30k per year, then it’s doubtful that you’d qualify for any financial aid.

Your biggest problem is your SAT (I’m guessing that is out of 2400???).

Your class rank is also a problem.

At this point, there aren’t any “big names” that will likely accept you.

Once you get your scores up, and perhaps do better with your GPA (try to end this year as high as you can!!), then we can make better recommendations.

Right now…most UCs are out, the Cal Polys are out, some of the best Cal States might be out, and privates are probably unaffordable.

So, you’ve got some work to do. Good luck!

(Also, ask your parents how much they can contribute each year. If you’re guessing the $30k amount, they may have a different figure in mind.)

I’m looking to improve my SAT, and as you can tell, I’m VERY worried.
I have ePrep (the online sat prep) and I don’t think that it has helped me improve.
I’ve been trying to raise my grades; I’ve gone to 2 high schools so the move kind of shook me up a little bit school-wise (transferring credits)
Class rank: I know that this is a problem but maybe once I get my GPA up, I’ll move up a little bit on the class rank system.
Thanks for the feedback and advice.

Bump! Does anyone have anything to add? Do I need more extracurriculars?
