Thanks.

Im only top 20% class rank, not top 10, but I have the toughest schedule at my school. My grades have improved every grade report since 8th grade(took high school courses). So I dont know how much that would go into consideration.

ur good, unweighted GPA a little low tho, try and get that up some more

if you dont get in, then .......three letters: _ _ _ (it begins with a W)

I know what you mean, the GPA needs to go up. Im confident that I can get straight A's first semester and i have to take SAT II's, so im applying regular decision for UMICH(especially since first semester ends early here). So thanks for the help.

there is no early decision, just try and get it in as early as possible, preferabbly before november

do you think that it would be better if I sent it in november with my current stats and october SAT II scores or wait until late december and improve my unweighted GPA?

The longer you wait to apply, the more it's going to hurt you. Michigan does rolling admissions so as time passes, more and more of the seats in the class already get reserved for other people.

Ryan, your chances aren't good, but you certainly have a shot. Try to break the 2100 on your SAT (at least a 2000) and apply in September...no later than October.

2200 SAT score

yea i was wndering about that..lol he has a 2200, thats good, u see if u were from my school in toledo, ohio where the reps know our school well, then id say apply whenever u want before the deadline and ull DEFINITELY get in, but in ur case u can awlays send everything early and then after dec send in a mid yr transcript update

Well Ryan, your chances have just shot up. You have a good shot at Michigan...but do apply in September if possible. You are a strong candidate and I have a feeling you will get in. Good luck and keep us posted.

We are planning a visit early fall up to U of M...I havent been to the campus in 4 or 5 years so we are going again. My whole extended family lives up in michigan though so I think it will be a good fit. Thanks for the help once again.

Ryan,
Michigan will only consider your GPA in Grades 10 and 11. So if your GPA has been improving since the 8th grade, chances are your UW GPA is a bit better than 3.5

im just curious but if umich only looks at ones unweighted GPA then what is the point of taking AP classes or higher level classes in high school?

um, cause they show you have challenged yourself in high school and not taken the easy way out. Regardless of the wieght and all that, AP and hon classes are always seen as more difficult than the reg's, even if it may not always be like that in your school
