Chances, out of state.

Here: I'm a high school junior, From Syracuse NY.

Freshman Year: 82.5 GPA
Sophomore Year: 87.5 GPA
Junior Year: 90.1 GPA (Making Honors second semester)

My improvements and academic maturity has gotten me into AP EURO, AP GOV, and Honors Shakespeare for next year....along with pre-calc and physics as two other competitive courses for senior year.

Notice my upward trend...maturity?

My school does not rank it's students.

SAT:

Reading:670
Math:680
Writing:610

Extras:
JV Lacrosse 9-10, Varsity Lacrosse 11-12 (Could play D2 or D3 if I wanted to), Forensics 9(State Qualified), Science Club 10, Marine Biology Club 10, JV Soccer 9-10, Mock Trial 10-11.
Note: Lacrosse is my main extra curricular, where all that commitment and leadership comes in.

Spent two summers in Canada canoe tripping = Huge life experience
Job: Took a life guarding course, I'll be life guarding this summer, possibly two jobs.

I don't go to public school, I go to a private catholic college prep school...which always has it's students graduating and then attending very competitive schools the next year...class size of 120.

If applying early action how are my chances?

I forgot these:

SAT 2:

World History: 620
US History: Taking in June
Math 1: Taking in June

Volunteering: MY school requires 30+ hours for senior year, that’s applicable also.

although GPA’s a little bit low,
SAT scores are in the safe range.

also, if your school’s in the category of ‘Very Competitive’,

I’d say it’s a low-match to match if you apply for early action.

if you apply for regular admission, it may be a little tough.

S was accepted OOS regular decision, 3.59 GPA, 1270 SAT (M/CR) and 1850 overall, top 15% from a competitive HS. He had 4 APs including AB and BC Calculus APs. All his other classes were Honors and he had a good record of ECs including leadership. He felt he had very strong essays for UMCP.

Seems like UMCP is very popular among kids from NY/NJ. Anyone know why?
