Chances - please answer

I personally would have loved to take the tests more times, but i lack funds, time, and transportation.

I was just good enough to pass. Hopefully my school grades will outweigh them.

I got lucky with the SAT, took the very last old one, and the very first new one. I was done with those tests, made my head hurt too much. ;)

lol. Know that feeling.

I got in on the last "old one" as well and it was my best verbal and math scores. I took the "new one" two times, the first time, my math went down 30 points and verbal/cr went down 50 points from my first attempt. The second new test I took, my math went back up the 30 points and my verbal/cr went up 40 points.

Deffinitely take it as much as possible and try not to go into the test thinking you have to make a certain score. You will only make yourself nervous, you won't sleep well the night before so you will be tired, and you deffinitely will not do as well. Just go in with the attitude of "I can do everything that is on this test, its just a review from all my previous classes" and you will do better.

Also for math, look at practice problems and also how to get the right answers for them because often times there is a little trick that will solve the problem in like 2 seconds as opposed to 2 minutes.

Take the ACT for a change.

A lot of people like it better.

Ya' know, I was just thinking. My SAT scores were over the minimum, but my math score on the ACT was below. Would that knock me off, even though my SAT is above? Scary thought.

GoldenStorm - Not to worry. My son's scores were like yours - just above average on the SAT verbal/math and ACT math/science. Woefully low on the ACT english and reading. They'll look at the best scores you have.

My verbal/english/reading scores are all awesome. Just stinkin' math. And it's my favorite subject! Love math. But I can really stink sometimes.

The Academy will mix and match any scores you have, basically taking the best out of anything possible. In other words, you can never hurt yourself by taking the SAT or ACT again.

I'd like to take it again, but I won't be able to. So just hopin' for the best.

Thank you one and all. I'll pass the info onto my son. He is scheduled to take another SAT on Jan 28. I'm trying to find a tutor for him to help raise his score in verbal. That, along with the SAT forum information, will surely help him. BTW..He received another nomination in the mail yesterday. Total of three...I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of his accomplishments and future plans. Again...thank you for your advice...we will definately use it.

Best of success to your son.

My english ACT scores never were equal to or greater than the minimum score. I still got in. Hope the helps some of you feel better.
