chances, please be honest

I attend a highly competitive public high school in california. My school has a great reputation and usually grauates around 10 ivy bound students, boasts more than 50 students annually as going to a uc, and does well on standardized testing.

*G.P.A. (unweighted) - hovering around 3.75.
G.P.A. (weighted) - close to 4.1 (4.07, last time i checked).

*SAT score: 2120 (V:710, M:650- not too pleased with that, W:760)
3 sat IIs under my belt
only one AP test (5- US History); I am registered to take 4 more APs this
year though.

*program has always been rigorous, at least two advanced (honors or AP
courses) per year since I was a freshman, but I have only taken one
advanced science and math course. (when reviewing my transcript its
clear my interest lies far more in the humanities)

*Extracurriculars: track team (four years, now varsity capt), model u.n. (historian-10th, v.p.-11th, pres.-12th), international club (more cultural than political- hist. 9th-11th, v.p.-12th), earth club (10th-12th), peer support team (peer counseling type thing- 11th and 12th;volunteer-like)

*volunteer work: hospital (150+ hours, 9th-11th), braille institute (summer before 12th), relay for life- american cancer society (10th-12th grade events), tutoring center at school (10th-12th grade, 114+ hours over 3 years)

Can someone please tell me, honestly, what my chances of admission are to Wash. U. (in St. Louis)? Please be honest, I don't like living in the clouds.

I'd say its a good match! good luck! I really think you'll get in. Don't worry!

I disagree. Current WashU M+V median is 1430 for admitted Freshmen. Your M+V is only 1360, putting you just barely above the 25th percentile. Although your GPA is OK, there's tons of kids who apply to WashU with similar or better GPAs and much better SATs, and your ECs, though good, are just average for an applicant to WashU. Realistically, I think it's unlikely that you'll be accepted.

Why would you want to go wash you when you live in the state with the best public schools in the country

commonsense34, I want to leave California because I think college is one of the only times in one's life that a person can pick up and move anywhere they want with relatively no strings attached. I did apply to a few UCs just in case I change my mind though.

amptron2x, thanks for being realistic. I know my credentials aren't extraordinary, but I'm still hoping.

kaitlyn, thanks for the enthusiasm and encouragement. I really appreciate it.

although you have decent ec's, you sat's and gpa may hurt you

california doesn't have that great of public schools. new jersey...very good.

California doesn't have great public schools? Are you kidding? UCLA, UCB, UCI, UCSD....????

although your sat's could be higher, your geography may help if you really want to attend wash u. i don't believe wash u really draws from out west. the general populace is less familiar with wash u than with other east coast schools so you may have less competition with your geographic bretheren. if you really wanted to attend wash u, you blew it by not going ed. i think you would have gotten in fairly easily with ed. without it, it is not a slam dunk but it still looks good in my opinion. whatever that is worth.
