Chances please! :D

I love Barnard, but mostly as my far away reach dream school, and though i will still apply, i know my chances aren't great, BUT YA NEVER KNOW!

I am wondering what you think about my chances to get into University of Delaware, Boston University, and Mount Holyoke.

I live in PA and am a senior!

I have a GPA of 3.0, but i have a pretty long story about that, basically i was having some pretty intense family issues during my freshman and sophomore years, but my junior year looks amazing, and my senior year is going well also. I know that a low GPA looks bad most of the time, but i wrote my essay about my situation, and i also have done a few interviews to try and explain the situation, so hopefully it won't be too detrimental?

I have an 1150/1600 SAT (540 math/ 610 reading/ 640 writing)

Classes I have taken/am taking:
1 year of French and 2 years of Spanish, i wanted to continue both, but scheduling problems with AP courses ^_^
All advanced math/science/english courses offered in my school ninth through eleventh grade, since AP courses aren't really offered until senior year;

AP US History
AP Biology
AP English
AP European History
AP Statistics

I took the AP test for US History and got a 4
I plan on taking the AP test for most, if not all, of the others at the end of the year, but i guess that isn't very important for admissions.

I took the US History SAT Subject test and got a 620, and am still waiting to hear my English Literature score

Extra Circulars:
Community Halloween event (4 years)
Culture Day Event (3 years)
Social Actions Club (3 years)
School Newspaper (1 year)
School Orchestra (1 year) (Though it is actually almost 10 years, but scheduling problems, again, ^_^, forced me to drop it as a class)
Leader in organizing school concerts (2 years) (not really a title, but it seemed important!)

I've also done a lot of activities associated with the gifted program, but i've heard that admissions officers aren't impressed by kids that jump up and down over being 'gifted', is that true?

Work Related Activities
I take care of my baby sister, it isn't really a job, but it's a pretty important responsibility, and it takes up a lot of my time (4 years)
I also babysit once or twice a week for two children (3 years)

I have excellent recommendations from my AP US History teacher and my Spanish II teacher.
My essay basically talks about ninth and tenth grade being difficult because i was caring for both my baby sister and my drug addicted, alcoholic parents while trying to take difficult classes, i don't want to write an "excuse" essay, but i think that it is important for people to realize the circumstances, as well as my determination, is this a bad idea?
