Apply to:
NYU CAS, Vassar, Wellesly, Barnard, Northwestern University, MAYBE Columbia though it may be a bit too much of a reach, Boston College

Any thoughts on more unis to apply to?

Good chance. Not a great one, but a good one. The SATs are at the median or slightly below. Your rank is also too low (NU wants ALL students at least in the top 10%).
Not to be rude, but why are you applying to Northwestern? NU sticks out from the list of schools you applied to. It is Big 10 and has a very different atmosphere. Have you visited? Are you sure you are serious about applying? If you genuinely like NU, then schools like UW-Madison, UMich, Penn, and WUSTL should also be finding their way onto your list.

Well i USED to be really interested in journalism, which is why Northwestern would have been my top choice, though I'm not really that excited about it anymore. Also, earlier i was more focused on private universities, but I'm now more keen on LAC's

Here is the 2005-06 freshman class profile for NU:
82% in the top 10% of HS class,
96% in the top 25%,
and 100% in the top 50%.

At least 18% of those enrolled were NOT in the top 10% of their HS class.

^i bet those stats were even more competitive this year and will be even more this next admissions cycle.

do you still wanna do journalism? i'm sure starting your own school paper and newspaper sounds good

The students not in the top 10% are varsity athletes, URMs, have 2370s, or go to the best private schools in teh country (and don't give me that "I go to a really competitive public school. Kids go to ivies every year.") Stats are cool but actually looking at the people behind the numbers is slightly more representative.

"The students not in the top 10% are varsity athletes, URMs, have 2370s, or go to the best private schools in teh country"
i haven't gotten in yet, but if i do, i'll fall into three of those categories. i'm not in the top 10% of my class but i haven't talked to anybody that has thought i'll get rejected.

Nope I'm not really into journalism anymore. I did a couple of internships to get a feel of it but didnt really love them..
