Thank you very much for the help.

first, everybody is an econ major. second, you have a very good shot.

More like 20%.

The common line: your stats are good; don't bs your essays and you're in.

I agree. Good shot. And it doesn't affect your chances that your an econ major, I promise.

^ Especially since the application doesn't ask for a major.

omg...u can so bs your essay and u'll still get in with your stats...only if you were in a varsity sport

Admissions standards are low in UofC nowadays. You'll probably get in.

I forgot to mention that I should have excellent recommendations.

asiaknight: why do you say the standards are low?

Thank you for the chances so far. Anyone else?

the standards aren't low...what are you talking about...right now i have classes with students that rejected yale, Mit, Cornell, Columbia, Northwestern, and many other highly selective schools for this...the only reason the acceptance rate is so high at 34 % is because of the uncommon application which means that students are self selecting when they apply here; yet our average tests scores are so very high...oo and as the school gets more attention, the standards can only improve (even though it's already so very high)

^Yale, MIT, Cornell all are more selective than UofC. Standards are "comparatively" lower than at the top schools and a few Ivies. Doesn't mean it's not a good school - out of the top 10, it's probably the easiest to get into, one of the hardest to graduate from

And this is purely subjective, but after going here for a while, I am firmly convinced that admissions standards are relaxing as Bobby Zimmer is trying to bolster the school's image - while we have some incredibly smart and talented people, there are a lot on the other end of the spectrum (more than I expected), although they seem to be doing well enough in school..

I didn't mean to sound antagonistic, just saying that OP has good chance, though he lacks a little on awards.
