Just to reply to all you highschool students who are requesting an evaluation of your chances I think you should carefully evaluate the statistics posted by all colleges about the preceding class eg class of 2011 to see how you measure up statistically. If you are in line with the statistics, have unique, multi-faceted EC's and if you love the school after visiting and doing an overnight, if possible, apply. Nobody can tell you if you will get in or not.

As applies to Middlebury let me review my D's statistics:

2200 SATs
She was waitlisted for class of 2011 at Middlebury along with hundreds of others. Why? Who knows and why speculate. She withdrew her name from the list and is now having a great time and loves every aspect of her great school, Wesleyan.

Lesson to be learned is that no school is a lock for anyone when you are applying to top ranked colleges or universities. To guess what may be a hook for one school versus another is a waste of time. Apply to your dream schools that may be reaches. Apply to some matches that you would truly enjoy going to. Make sure you have at least two safety schools that are sure things but that you would want to go to.

If you are a caucasion female from an upper economic family from the northeastern or mid-Atlantic US understand you have a statistical disadvantage to admissions at the top elite lacs and universities as compared to your male classmates.

Relative to the op if you want Middlebury then apply.

You are certainly qualified; now you need to convince Middlebury admissions that it is your first choice school for these compelling reasons. There are many Middlebury students who turned down Dartmouth and Cornell to attend Middlebury. Treat your Middlebury application as if you were applying to Stanford or Dartmouth because lots of applicants with incredible stats and accomplishments are fighting for admission.
