Chances please?? Freaking out a bit...

Okay so I've been thinking about applying EA for a while and I'm still not sure if I should or not! Would applying EA help me get in, or do I still have a good shot if I apply RD?

Thanks!!

Hi there, thank you for chancing me for BC!

I think your chances for UChicago are very good. You have stellar test scores, and the GPA is there. Great courseload of APs with outstanding scores.

One thing that could be concerning is your ECs when tied in with what you want to study. You forgot to mention what you intend to major in at UChicago! And just by looking at your ECs (although they are impressive), I don’t know what you’re passionate about in terms of your future career.

A great essay can help tremendously, ofcourse, and I do not doubt that you will be able to write one!

If Chicago is your first choice, then definitely go for EA. I am not informed enough about the school to be able to tell you whether you’d have better chances of admission by applying EA or RD. However, I can tell you that if you are passionate about the school, then you’ve got nothing to lose. I’m assuming that EA applicants would be regarded as the candidates who are most interested in the school.

I wish you the best of luck in your admissions, and I really hope, as a Chicagoan myself, that you have the opportunity to experience one of the greatest cities in America.

From what I’ve heard, it all comes down to the essays really…

But I think its pretty sick that you are a power-lifter and hold a record in NY. You must be really buff.

I would say that you stand as good a chance as anyone, given stats and such. So, like the above mentioned, I would truly focus my effort on turning out fantastic essays, and try to show a ton of interest.

I’d say that yes, your chances are pretty good. It seems like you’ve got pretty solid academics and EC’s AND a pretty good SAT score (at least, higher than mine when I got accepted). Just make sure to really put a lot of effort into the essays as well. Really make them your own and put thought and originality into them.

Thanks for the responses (and compliments! ) everybody! Definitely feel good about applying EA now.

With those SAT scores and those activities and gpa and stuff it’ll be easy for you to get in.
Make sure you apply early action/decision cause that helps a lot
and make sure you work on your essay.
But your chances are like…awesome. great SAT scores!!!
