Ok, i have
3.2 gpa
3.8 wgpa
1700 sat
in state
These arent the best of grade but the problem is umd is the only school where i enjoyed my visit and is my dream school. What are my chances, if there are any and is there any advice from anyone that would help me get in?

if this helps at all, i forgot to mention i am taking 3 AP classes this upcoming year, i played football and wrestled for a year, and academy of finance member

Your SAT is a pretty low, but I’ve seen a few instaters pull in with 1500 SAT and above (out of 2400). By any chance, are you URM? If so, then I’d say you’d get in. Also a lot depends on how you compare to the other applicants from your school, what percentile you’re in and ranking. But attributes that set you apart from the others and make you unique will be tremendously helpful as colleges like Maryland look at their applicant from a holistic standpoint and if you have something that makes you appear “special” and they feel you will be an asset to their institution, than that’s really beneficial.

thanks alot, really appreciate it

You have a reasonable chance, since you are in-state. However, UMD is very numbers and grade driven when it comes to merit $$, and special programs (honors, scholars, etc.). You likely won’t get any of those.

My son has stats quite similar to yours, and is shooting for January admission. If you are rejected for fall, you may be offered January without asking. You can also apply for January. He is hoping that the January group would be less competive in class as well as in the admissions process.

i would say md is a reach for you.
why don’t you try for umbc and transfer 2nd semester?
