**Chances?? Please help put my mind at ease**

i really need to know ifi have a chance for ED at either CAS or HumEC, i cant decide which college yet

white male, long island HS, un-hooked

SAT- 1530/2280 (GC wants to write how i got my SAT marks w/o tutors or anything, she thinks that will help)
SATII- 750 Math2, 800 US History, 630 chem
GPA- ~96 unweighted, higher w/o freshmen year, toughest courseload
No rank, top decile

EC's (this is what makes me nervous)
-4 years newspaper, this year Ed-in-chief (i dont know what other schools are like, but this is a MAJOR time commitment, and my teacher rec will show that)
-4 years volunteering every saturday at temple (co-leader), leading services, mentoring kids
(these two are the big ones im passionate about and will mention in essays)
-4 years community service club
-3 years hebrew culture club
-2 years math tutoring
-various other small things

essays: i think they will be excellent
rec's- teachers love me, and one is advisor of newspaper so can write about how much time i spend on that

I think ur chances are pretty good, even higher if you do apply ED. The only thing negative is ur location, but u can't help that (just because a lot of white males probably apply from there...but o well!) Best of luck and keep it up!

anyone else?

Your school GC is probably best source. With as much experience as your school likely has with Cornell, he/she will have a good handle. That said, your chances appear good at CAS (but can never be certain), of course better at HumEc. Grades not strong for CAS, but in range. EC's solid (but only because of E in C post, otherwise weak). SAT's fine.

what kind of grades would be strong for CAS?

any other thougts?

would applying RD really hurt my chances at HumEc?

Well applying ED helps...applying RD doesn't hurt. It's all relative so it's hard to give a specific answer.

i know it doesnt hurt...

has anyone seen the ED rates at each of the individual schools?

i dont think i'm going to be applting here ED anymore, but i definitely love Cornell and will be applying RD. does anythink i have a good shot in the RD round?

Do you have a new ED?

CHANCES PLEASE (For a prospective transfer)

i am a college freshman at a public school in new york, looking to transfer into Cornell ILR, USC-marshall, and NYU-stern.

i am taking calculus I right now but am doing poorly, and because of this class i will not receive a 4.0 (most likely get a B-). i took ap calculus bc as a senior in high school and received a 3...will this hurt my chances (taking it twice, and not exceling my 2nd time?) also, does anyone know of any prerequisites transfers should have before matriculating into ILR?

my first choice school as a transfer would be columbia (rejected for freshman status last year) however, my gpa decreased as a senior last year and my gpa as of now isn't stellar, therefore..i think it would be pointless applying because im pretty sure thats a rejection.

im in a semi-competitive honors program at my school and i know that at least 2 people will be applying as transfers to ILR.

other stats: 2250 sat..700+ in 4 subject tests
gpa: 92/100 (i guess it would be about 3.65)
extracurriculars aren't great

think i have a shot? and if anyone would like to comment on the other schools i am applying to in terms of admissions, that would be great.

im going to do ED at Princeton

chance RD, anyone?
