Chances ?? please help

Wondering if I am on the right path for an ED Dartmouth application my senior year. Currently just wrapping up first semester of sophomore year. Here are stats this year...

ranked #1 out of 40. public high school in new hampshire

Ap US history: 94
Hon Alg II: 90
Chinese II: 96
Hon Eng 10: 93
Chemistry: 92

93 is an A-. Will colleges care as much with letter grade differences with other schools? grading pretty rigorous as well. This is just first semester, and its a brand new high school for me (left old school after freshman year)

looking to start crew team at this school as well. Any thoughts on what I will need for the rest of this year, and what type of schedule I should aim for when it comes to next year as well?

thanks

I applied to Dartmouth RD this year and I read literally at least a hundred chance threads so I think I have a good idea academic-wise what D/Ivy League schools are looking for.

Just remember that all chance threads are far from perfect, because we don’t know what the admissions people are looking for from year to year.

Okay now with your chances and just my advice. :)

All the universities know that grading policies are different from school to school, so don’t worry about A or A-. It sounds like you’re doing great anyway, because you’re first in your class. D will look at your rank and know that your school has harsh grading policies.

You should really prepare for your SAT’s starting this summer (or ACT w/writing). By SAT’s, I mean both the SAT I and SAT II. Remember that you have to take 2 SAT II tests!

Crew team is great and hey maybe you will be recruited as an athlete! You should keep doing it and aim for the captain position.

You should always try to take the most rigorous schedule, and yes that includes the senior year. But just an advice, don’t take more AP’s than you think you can handle. Rigorous schedules are important, but GPA is too.

It doesn’t seem like you have any volunteer activities, so you should start to be involved in that. D looks for the genuineness of the activities, so try be involved in an activity that you feel dear to your heart. Your EC’s especially volunteer activities will help you so much in writing the admission essays as well!

Also, D requires a peer evaluation so try to maintain close friendships with your friends as well!

In conclusion, it sounds like you’re very ambitious and the kind of student that D would look for.
However, don’t let yourself fall into love with a certain university so deep that you would be crushed if you are rejected from that school.
Just know that there are other great schools, college admissions are only getting tougher, and that God has a plan for you!

Best of luck the rest of your high school career and to your dreams of attending Dartmouth!
