I think you are in...but that's just my opinion.

You've got a great shot for an out-of-state student. Nothing about you seems overwhelming, but nothing would move your app to the reject pile. I'd say that you've got about a 50% shot.

Thanks. Do you guys go to UVa by any chance?

I'll be enrolling at UVA this fall as a member of the undergraduate class of '09.

You're gonna bankrupt your family with just application fees...How can you have four safety schools? Isn't a safety a sure thing?

There's nothing wrong with that list. As a non-URN, non-athlete, non-legacy student with great but not amazingly awesome credentials, she's doing what's in her best interests by applying to many schools. The schools that she has listed as safeties are schools that might give her money.

Still, 16 schools; I thought i hadn't defined what I want in a school when I made my list of 8. But hey, whatever floats your boat or finds your lost remote

I am applying ED to duke and EA to Boston College. If I don't get into those.. well then i'll think about it. I'm not necessarily applying to all of those colleges. Just what I'm thinking about right now.

I would have said 50%, until I saw the GS gold award (Eagle Scout equivalent). I'll bump it up to 65% chance that you'll get accepted. There's a degree of luck, of course.

I pause for a moment to chuckle about the fact you consider UVA a reach but William and Mary a match. Some of my fellow Virginians might differ, heh, heh.

Best of luck, and, for your parent's sake, choose one safety school.
