Note I am applying to CSOM!!! ( Should i apply early???)) Also, will my math subject tests help me get into CSOM??

I would try taking the SAT (in addition to re-taking the ACT as you stated already), if you have not done so yet, to see if you can raise your scores. I do not feel you need to raise them much and you are close to being a match. Try to get all A’s your first semester in the fall. My daughter is about to enter her junior year at BC in CSOM. I think your GPA is okay and your Key Club and FBLA show some nice longevity. My daughter’s uw GPA was about 2 points higher and she was about a point higher on her ACT. She used her SAT scores, however, since they were a little better than her ACT scores. I’m not trying to make you feel bad, on the contrary, because she said that she had better stats than all of her friends. She applied EA but since you should be trying to raise your GPA and test scores (in R and S), I would advise you to apply RD. I don’t think the math score will necessarily give you the boost you are looking for at CSOM since your overall score is what they look for at BC in their emphasis on “educating the whole person”. I hope this extra effort will be rewarded, by getting accepted at BC. Good luck and PM me if you have any other questions about the school, city, etc.

For me, I took the SAT 3 times and the ACT twice. For the ACT, just make sure you read over the science section carefully and do a few practice problems every day, because those are the sections that are easy to raise. For reading and grammar, it’s more of a inherent thing I believe. I skimmed the passages, but didn’t read them word for word, which seemed to work pretty well time wise. Good luck in September, and I think if you raise your ACT you have an excellent shot!

You definitely need to get your ACT up for BC, especially CSOM. A 32+ would be ideal. If you can get your scores up, you have a good shot at admission. You could also try the SAT as others have said. I recommend applying RD so you can get your GPA up a bit (more A’s will bring up your unweighted GPA). EA is known to be more competitive. Keep up the service work (BC loves community service), and write a killer essay.

a 32 is gonna be tough… im struggling to get a 30. Im not ure if this will help, but i am showing a lot of interest. I actualy just sent a letter to the admissions director of new jersey for bc (i live in nj). and i have been emailing several different admission officers aw well

Showing a lot of interest will help, definitely. But test scores are very important at most selective colleges like BC. Just do your best and continue showing interest. Again, keep up the community service and perfect your admissions essay, and hope for the best! Good luck to you!

If you’re applying to CSOM, definently apply RD. I’m applying EA, but it’s because I’m applying to my colleges as an undecided. I think you’ll be fine, and try to score at least a 31 on ACT. That will help you a lot! But, overall, your ECs and awards are good. Work hard on those essays, and good luck!
