I am an Indian male and graduated high school on 2012. I have studied under a State Board. Here are my brief stats:

Academics:
9th 89.3%
10th 91.5%
11th and 12th combined (Yes, combined) 94.4%

SAT 1:
1st try 1910 (520CR 770M 620W)
2nd try 2050 (590CR 720M 740W)
SS 2100 (590CR 770M 740W) -- I know these are very low. I tried but failed to improve my CR score :(
SAT 2: Math L2 800, Physics 780, Chemistry 750
TOEFL: 109/120

ECs: (Absolutely nothing in 11 and 12th)
During 9th and 10th:

3. Member of a local Youth Association--incredibly active in welfare and development of people and community.

Applying to: (need financial aid)
Cornell
Columbia
Yale
Dartmouth
UChicago
Yale-NUS
Middlebury
Trinity
Colby
Union

Can I get accepted in any of these colleges? Prospective major: Engineering/Sciences

International student, eh? If you’re asking for a lot of aid, then just know that all those colleges you have applied to (except need-blind ones, which are crapshoots for everyone anyway) are crapshoots. Literally every school has posted so on its website: international applicants needing aid will have a tough time getting in (7-10%, usually). It’s just the way things are…

Trinity is possible, but usually the case is that most internationals requiring aid are accepted in ED and getting in through RD is extremely difficult. If you do NOT need more than half of the cost of attendance, you are very likely to get into Trinity, Colby and Union (esp Union). Cornell could accept you if they see something in you, but do not be surprised if it does not meet your need - only the luckiest intls get their full need met there.

You have cast an incredibly not-so-wide net and as a science prospie with a weak CR score from India (not so unique), the admissions process might be very, very difficult for you. You should have cast a wider net - Bucknell perhaps (a school that does not care TOO much about SATs)? Villanova? Some other good engineering schools? Yale is possible given their attempt to increase the popularity of their STEM programs and your strength in that, but it’s Yale… what more can anyone say?

If you’ve written brilliant essays - seriously brilliant - then, perhaps, there is hope. Good luck!

@Vivaciousakrish Thanks for your response. Maybe aid will be the deciding factor in myadmissions. I need about 80-85% aid :(

Anyone else please?

If you minus the aid then you have a serious chance of getting into most of the colleges you mentioned (except maybe Yale and Dartmouth). There is just too much competition for financial aid. You should try for loans. Check out credila. Just Google it. Its good for Indian students trying to get admissions abroad.

@hem19941 Thanks…Credila?? Okay I’ll google it. Thank you very much for this advice.

Indians and the Chinese have it the worst. There’s so many of you guys applying and the schools can’t possibly take you all. Best of luck.

Good point Iboss1223…cut throat competition for places

@betterhope glad I could help…
