Hi there,

I'd appreciate it if you guys could help me with this. Currently in my senior year.. here's my info:

-- Personal:
Gender: Male
Race: Asian (American) -- :|
Intended Major: Computer Science -- stereotypical, I know, but I'm very interested
State: California

-- GPA:
Unweighted: 3.90
Weighted: 4.31
Weighted (w/o 9th grade): 4.5

A bit bummed out about my GPA, could've gotten some stuff up..

-- Senior Classes:
AP Statistics
English Literature Movement Through Music
Economics (1st semester) / Government (2nd semester)
AP Spanish 5 Language
AP Calculus BC

There were some schedule conflicts, and so I couldn't take AP Statistics in my junior year and I couldn't take AP Comparative Government in my senior year either. I'll definitely bring this up in the application though.

Principal's Honor Award (highest) all four years, if that counts for anything!
Class Rank: N/A, but probably near the top. Definitely in the top 5% students in terms of just GPA though.

SATs: 2190 total, but I won't be submitting this

Have been doing professional web development for the past couple of years. I have a portfolio, resume, everything, and have made over $3,000 in the last two years from doing so. Client list includes not only friends and friends of friends but also strangers from Craigslist. I won the 2010 Business Roundtable Competition for Web Design and received an honorable mention at the 2011 Business Roundtable Competition for web design again.

I'm looking to launch a sort of test prep book exchange/selling website with our school and other schools in the county (in talks with vice-principal currently, the website works, I just need approval/access to the database of student info).

Worked with the OpenTok API (Free video chat API | OpenTok) in order to create an online platform for learning other languages through video conferencing with a former client. The client whom I was working with didn't want to invest any more time in the project and so we discontinued about a month or two ago -- it is pretty much fully functional though, don't know how I can work that in.

Did a bit of game development when I was younger (8th - 9th grade). Ran an emulation server (Java) of the popular MMORPG (computer video game) MapleStory off of my own network and then later on a virtual server, paid for by donations. I worked on multiple servers over those two years, but the most popular (called GeekMS) had over 2,000 total users on the forums (not all of them were active, but it's still a substantial number!). Although I did not write the entire emulation server, I worked on bugs that came up, fixed many things, and added in custom content just for our players. -- Question about this: this was sort of illegal.. is it OK to talk about?

President of CSF (California Scholarship Federation) junior year and senior year. I was also the publicist sophomore year. CSF is one of if not the largest academic club on our campus (400+ members). We do philanthropic events all around campus and off campus as well, and we also give out scholarships to seniors heading to college at the end of the year. I oversee all club actions and help out when needed.

Currently doing a bit of Android app development; hoping to have an app out on the Android Market to use as a reference before I submit college apps, haha. Maybe something involving education, as it seems like stressing that is important.

Looking to get involved in the technology or music section of my school's newspaper.

I was a paid exhibitor at the Intersolar North America Conference at the Moscone Center in SF for three days for Comtech (2nd or 3rd largest silicone wafer manufacture in the world); I helped sell products/negotiate trades between clients and worked closely with the manager of sales in the company.

Took Stanford's SEE free online course on CS101.

Took two years of Chinese (CHIN101A and CHIN101B) at a community college during freshman year and junior year. A's. I also want to tack on a class at a closer community college but registration is limited and a lot of people want spots in the class.

Instructor/Teacher Aide at a local daycare sort of center. I taught children (ages 5-12) subjects like math, english, reading, writing, etc. over the summer at an institute. The first summer was paid while the second was volunteer work.

Member of various clubs on campus, including: NHS, Spanish Honor Society, Interact, others.

And probably a lot of other misc. techy stuff that might be worth mentioning, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

I'm going to ED to Columbia because that's my #1 choice, but here are all of the schools I'm applying to (lowest to highest):
MIT
Columbia (Fu Foundation)
Carnegie (School of Computer Science)
Cooper Union
Cornell
UC Berkeley
CMC
UIUC
U Michigan
Other UCs
U of Washington

Also, are there any other college you guys would recommend for someone definitely interested in computer science?
