Great recs, Great essays

My downfall (Was suspended 3 times for fighting)

Lots of guys with similiar stats are rejected. You have as good a chance as the next guy. Put your ap in and move on to other schools that you also want to attend. Good Luck.

Your GPA will likely be scrutinized and compared to others in a stripped-down and re-weighted or completely unweighted fashion in the context of the rigor of your coursework. Combined with your SAT scores, provided your GPA withstands comparison, and taking your EC’s into account, I would say you have a good a chance as anybody if it weren’t for the three suspensions for fighting. When were the suspensions? Can you use an essay to demonstrate how you’ve redirected your…shall we say…passions?

I have to say…truly, to be helpful…that if I were an admissions officer at MIT perusing these forums I would seek out your file and burn it based on your “Turksouttacyprus” moniker, your “I might die” plea, and your three suspensions for fighting. If I were you I’d delete it before it’s seen.

Are you going to get into a fight with anyone while at MIT? Ask this question incesantly before you even apply. You can’t know what anyone or everyone at MIT is going to be like or what they might say or do. You can’t know what mood or turmoil You might be in. This includes those who are not apart of the student body or faculty. Say someone completely off campus. It doesn’t matter. Address this for your self before anything else.

BTW, how long ago were the suspensions. I know I went through a rough patch in the 2nd and 3rd grade(no suspensions, but maybe I should have been).

collegealum314: Yeah but it’s so unsatisfying…

It’s not about excuses. It seems to be a persistent issue.

The best I can advise, is to deal with this through your letters of recomendation. Do not try to hide or rationalise the fighting. Simply ask one or more of your letter writers to directly, and I do mean directly address it in whatever manner they see fit. MIT seems to value the wildcats and the spunky, but fighting is many times an unproductive risk.

this is just a test thread…its not really me…like i have a friend whos stats are nearly identical..xcept im the 1st state all prep goalie…not him..but yeah…he has an anger issue…but hes soo smart its insane.
