Why don't you just look at their website and compare the stats? That's all any of us can do for you anyway.

i think you have a great chance =]
those test scores are amazing, and you've got some solid ECs to add. apply early and write really good essays. out of state is a crapshoot, but i seriously believe you're in

Isn't UNC expensive for OOS? I can't apply early. I really need financial aid. What are my chances for regular? BTW do you go to UNC?

Early action isn't binding, so you should apply early.

Oh and as a fellow NYer (I'm on LI though) yeah, UNC is really expensive for an out of stater. Without any financial aid it's around $32,000 for us, but I'm sure you'll get a lot of help if you say your family is low income.

yeah, UNC only offers Early Action, which is NOT binding. Applying early helps a lot. UNC, from what ive heard, is usually pretty good about offering financial aid. i think you'd receive a good amount, along with a possible merit scholarship (but nothing guaranteed of course, OOS merit money is limited).

the total cost of attending unc from out of state is about $32,000, as heathergee said...they increased OOS tuition by almost a couple thousand this past year...wasnt too happy about that...

yes, i'll be attending UNC this fall. same w/heathergee =]

Oh its early action. Ok then I probably will apply early. Do you know if MIT is EA or SCEA because I was interested in applying there too?

MIT is EA, not SCEA, so yes you can apply to both if you want

EA will be a really big boost right. Is it true that only 18% of the school is OOS?

Heathergee since you live in NY can you tell em why UNC is worth all the money instead of Stonybrook or CUNY Honors (Hunter, City).

yes its true that only 18% are from OOS, and OOS acceptance RATE is also about 18-20%. applying EA to UNC when you're OOS wont help you a LOT, i think. since many of the qualified OOS students also apply EA.
