I'm a junior in HS and I'm very interested in GW. My current weighted GPA is a 3.56, but I'm planning to raise it to at least a 3.8 by the time I apply next year. I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what you think my chances of getting in would be. Thanks a lot! =]

Plus, I'm 3/4 African American and 1/4 Filipino(Asian) if this helps any. Do you thin I should even include asian on my application? I'm not planning to. Will it maybe increase my chances?

Thanks again,
Michael

Wow, thanks a lot! That definitely boosts my confidence. Anyone else??

What’s your UW? That would be the important thing.

I have to admit, my unweighted GPA is definitely not the best. Right now its sitting around a 3.25. But that, also, I plan to raise. Does being African American help any, because I know that GWU, in particular, is trying to increase diversity on campus.

And I’m also from California…if that helps any.

Likemic, I think you have a good shot. Like Pat said, ED should help you. Especially if you can get your SATs up a little to 2000 you are in range.

Ok, great thanks! I appreciate your input. Do you have anything else you can tell me?

Nope, I don’t have any inside info, just know the rough stats of my daughters and their friends that go there or are going there. If you can talk to your local GW rep (you can find the list on the web site) it is a good thing to do.

Ok, thanks, I didn’t even think to speak with a representative. Do your daughters just love GW? I’m sure I will!

Where can you find the list of local reps? Is there a direct link because I can’t seem to find it.

Reps are really busy right now reviewing RD applicants for class of 2014. Juniors should wait to contact reps until after April 1.

Thank you all for the wealth of information! It’s greatly appreciated. I just have one more question that wasn’t answered yet. Do you think being an African-American will help my chances of getting in to GW? Just curious

They are looking for more diversity but you would get in just based on your academics and extracurriculars alone. Just keep working hard and don’t slack off even if you do get into the school, they want to see your final grades from senior year. And apply ED I. I did that because I knew I wanted to go here and I firmly believe that if I hadn’t I wouldn’t be at this school right now because there are plenty of people with crazy academic records like you who apply RD, don’t really want to go here, and they take your spot on the accepted list. Basically don’t slack off, apply ED, do an interview, and you’ll get in

Thank you both so much for replying to me. It’s much appreciated. It’s nice to get an actual student’s opinion (@frenchamigo243). I feel a lot better now. I take my SAT next week, so wish me luck! Is there anything else you can tell me about the university? What school are you in @frenchamigo243?

I’d still love to hear more responses! Thanks!
