Chances please? Thanks!

I'm a junior in HS and I'm very interested in NYU. I know I'm definitely a long shot, but I'd like to know regardless. My current weighted GPA is a 3.56, but I'm planning to raise it to at least a 3.8 by the time I apply next year. I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what you think my chances of getting in would be. Thanks a lot! =]

Plus, I'm 3/4 African American and 1/4 Filipino(Asian) if this helps any. Do you thin I should even include asian on my application? I'm not planning to. Will it maybe increase my chances?

Thanks again,
Michael

It’s hard to chance a junior who hasn’t taken standardized tests yet, but keep in mind that NYU does not promise to consider mid-year reports, so this essentially you’re las semester to raise your GPA. Are you applying to CAS?

Oh wow, thanks, I didn’t now that they don’t do guaranteed mid-year reports. And yes, I’ll probably apply Arts & Sciences because there’s no way I’m getting into their business school. NYU is more of a reach school for me, I think GWU (george washington university) would be more of a match, and then I would be able to do business there. What do you think?

Congrats on the Gold Crown from Columbia Scholastic Press - that’s amazing!

And no, putting down Asian will not increase your chances.

Thanks! It’s such a great honor. And btw, I was asking if it would increase my chances by NOT putting down Asian and just putting full African American.

You have the option of putting down both.

I think you have a great shot if you get that 2000+ on your SATs!
