Chances? Please

I applied for the November 30th deadline. SUPER nervous/anxious to hear about a decision

I would greatly appreciate anybody telling me their opinions on how i stack up.

STATS:

GPA: 3.958 UW
SAT: 1480 (combined highest single test score) Individual Highest test scores: M: 580 R: 470 w: 510

Out of State Student
Lots of Extra Curriculars
Applied for DUS and Summer Session

If you made it by the Nov. 30 deadline you should have heard back by now. Your GPA is good but your SAT scores a a good few hundred beloew the middle 50% if I’m not mistaken.

Hi, I applied to PSU on Nov. 30 too and I heard back this morning! I think you’re in because I got into U-park with 3.4 gpa, 1770 SAT, and 26 ACT. I also had a few leadership ECs as well as Cross Country. I’m also out of state. I think depends on what major you applied to, I applied for Film & Television but I switched it to undecided and got my response super quick. Anyways, good luck. If you have any questions, feel free to reply or pm me.

Thank you so much! Any ideas on why it’s taking so long? I still haven’t even gotten a change of days status

Oops… Meant to say my gpa is 3.95 weighted

I think it’s the school that you applied to (DUS?). I don’t know much about it but people here say it’s competitive so that might the reason why it might take a while.

I am really sorry for all of these questions…

did your status move from a “everything is here and complete” to a coming days status?

I think mine was like, “Everything is here and is being reviewed by the admissions,” so and so. Then it changed to, “Thank you for applying to Penn State, your application is currently being reviewed and your decision will be here in the coming days,” something like that; I don’t exactly remember what it said verbatim. Ask anything!

Oops DUS means “Division of Undergraduate Studies” lol. I think you have a GREAT chance at getting in!

Your GPA is good. The SATs might hold you back, though. Not gonna lie. I’d say you’re borderline, especially being OOS. But your grades are more important than standardized test scores. So that’s good. Good luck.

Is your gpa on a 4.0 scale? If so, how do you have a near perfect gpa and such low test scores

I know plenty of people with 3.9/4.0 who got 1500 on SAT and 24-25 ACT. It’s not really that surprising. Good grades don’t always correlate with good test scores. Some people just aren’t test takers, nothing to make a deal out of. Anyways, OP, I think you have a solid chance!

I got accepted :)

yes it is a 4.0 gpa scale.
I’ve taken the test a good 4 times, i’ve had a tutor and everything… I am just the WORST test taker.
