Hi,
I was just wondering if someone could help me figure out my chances for Whitman. I really like the school!

white female, middle class, public school

GPA: 3.96, All IB classes
Rank: 12/609 weighted, 23/609 unweighted
SAT: 2160, R-720, M-690, W-750

A bunch of ECs, but nothing FANTASTIC.

ok thanks!

from a current student, your stats are good. but i reallllly encourage you to visit (or if thats not possible, set up a phone interview, go to an info session near your school, call the admissions office to chat, whatever) - show interest in the small private LAC - you could be a star student and have all the jazz in your app, but show no genuine interest in really wanting to come to the school and get waitlisted or denied (im not saying that this happens all the time, but...) you are at the top of your class and have near 4.0, I think you have a good shot!

Hey, thanks for your advice. I visited Whitman last year on a Fall Visitor's Day and then I also visited my friend's brother this past spring, and met with admissions again, so hopefully they'll know I'm interested! I actually was going to go visit another person I know that goes there, but not anymore, so that's probably good because I don't want Whitman to think I'm obsessed with visiting them, haha.

I have a question for you, if you don't mind: Would you say people are really friendly? That's the sense I got walking around and meeting my friend's brother's friends, but it's always nice to have another opinion!!

at first, a hallmate and i were sort of shocked that people didnt say hi when you pasted them on a path outside or in a hall in the beginning of the yr (the first week or so)... but now that i recongize soo many people, i am getting mutual "hi"s all over the place. so, yeah, people are friendly. but i depends on your perspective - the people from the east coast say that were are really relaxed/friendly here, but coming from CA, think its about the same from my home in the Bay Area near SF.

OK well as long as people aren't unfriendly!
