Glad you’re interest in William & Mary. Your class schedule, class rank, and standardized testing all fit nicely into our profile of an admitted student. That being said we caution any student applying to a highly selective school to manage their expectations. We admit only about 27% of the out-of-state students who apply.

One thing to mention, since you likely won’t have started track when you submit your application, note whether you anticipate being captain again in senior year.

As someone from not too terribly far away, you may also want to consider coming to campus this summer for an interview ([William & Mary - Summer Interviews](http://www.wm.edu/admission/interview)). It’s optional but designed to help us get to know you better.

Finally, you can also consider early decision if W&M is your top choice. Our ED pool is about 1100 students compared with our overall pool of nearly 13,000 so it’s easier to stand out in the smaller applicant pool.

For more on our process and any applicant’s chances, check out our Admit It! Blog ([W&M Blogs Chance Me](http://blogs.wm.edu/2010/12/14/chance-me/))
