honestly, i really dont think you will get in. Your GPA is just tooo low for UCSD,and your SAT scores dont make up for it. Even if you did retake SAT, your chances will be verrrry low Maybe you can transfer after two years.

I’m not sure a 2,000 plus SAT score will offset your GPA. You might want to look at UCSC instead. It’s also a “beachside” UC in a very nice community.

*** is this crap, guys. ilost3, don’t get down about it. I had a lower gpa than you 3.6 weighted, got a 2010 on SAT, had 1 year each of two sports, and 6 months of volunteer work. I got in. You have SUCH better stats than me. Just write good essays, and don’t freak out too much. Plus, you’re from out of state. That gives you a HUGE advantage.

No, it doesn’t. In state students still have the advantage, it’s just that compared to previous years, out of state students have better chances now then before.

Some of these guys above me don’t know what they’re talking about.
If you write a decent essay, and get above a 2000 on the SAT, I think you’ll have a good shot at getting in. I had the same weighted gpa, slightly higher unweighted, 2050 SAT score, and got in.

I had a 31 ACT, 1970 SAT, 4.2 GPA (3.86 UC GPA), 21+ hours a week of drama, 6 AP courses, 6 honors courses, Ambassadors, community service, a cirque du soleil perforance team, 3 years of varsity high school swim and two years of club swim team simultaneously, got admitted to the “lower” UC’s, but was denied at UCSD.

However, I appealed and got accepted to ERC.

I have friends who got waitlisted at UCSD and straight up denied from Irvine… Friends who were admitted to every single UC except UCSD…

UCSD is getting harder to get into. Its really rising in terms of the quality of its applicant pool.

This year was ridiculously hard to get in, I know a lot of people with better stats who were denied… But if you write a fantastic essay and get a 2000+ SAT score, you’ll have as good a chance as anybody.
