Your test scores aren’t good enough sorry…

I wouldn’t listen to SheepGetKilled. Honestly- it would serve you much better if you could bump your score even just 150 pts. It seems like a lot, but if you could up in each category, it doesn’t seem so bad. Take lots of practice tests, read up about writing the essay, and read LOTS. Pomona takes a very holistic approach to reviewing applications and your status as a Hispanic first gen college student will definitely serve you well. They college admin officers will see that you do well in school, did reasonably well on your SAT IIs and are putting yourself into lots of ECs. It’ll help lots if you have several teachers look over your application essays. If you can display passion and commitment in those, I think you definitely have a shot :)

I agree with sarsoccersar. You really need to improve your scores. I think a 1900 would be a good goal for you. Good luck in December!

Also, I know you didn’t ask for recommendations, but have you thought about any SAT optional schools. I would encourage you to apply to Bowdoin…it’s Pomona’s east coast coast equivalent and they take an even more holistic approach to admission. Just something to think about.

it’s always okay to dream big though  that’s what i’m doing! my gpa is a bit under par for pomona, but i’m keeping my fingers crossed! best of luck to you!

try to take your tests again! besides that, everything looks really good. if you’ve had alot of struggles, talk about that in your essay instead. colleges love that.

SheepGetKilled is right. Seriously, you probably need at least 2000 on SAT I (preferably above 2100) unless you have some other very special achievements (tons of awards, or started a company, etc.)

As a person, you’re a great applicant. However, colleges are academic institutions and your ability to succeed academically (and graduate) is just as important. You should retake your tests to assure Pomona that you are academically capable of attending such an esteemed college.

pitzer (one of the other claremont schools) is SAT optional so long as you meet certain requirements for gpa or rank. it’s an excellent school also and is right with pomona! that’s my “if I don’t get into Pomona school”

Would you mind posting your new December SAT scores? That could definitely be a game changer.
