Chances Please?

Hi, I just converted my application to ED2 because of the fact that four of my very close friends also applied to Colgate, regular decision, and since Colgate is one of my top choices I wanted to give myself every possible edge. Could someone please tell me if I have a chance of getting in under ED2?

SAT: W 780 CR 670 M 650
SATII's: World History 660 US History 750 Biology 710 Literature 680
AP: US History 4

GPA: at the beginning of this year it was a 3.5, but after a semester I have raised it to a 3.67
typically I receive A- and B+, with some A's and B's. I have taken honors/AP English, History and Spanish classes throughout my four years in high school.

RESUME:
I am a Commended National Merit Scholar.
I am a member of the National Honor Society
I have won several prestigious art and poetry/creative writing awards.
I have run cross country and outdoor track all four years of high school, and indoor track for my freshman and sophomore years.
I am a member of my student-elected Class Council.
I have over 200 hours of community service registered with my high school, more than 50 hours with the NHS and another 200+ at my church over the last four years.
I am an elected youth leader at my church and have been for all four years of high school.
I work year round as a lifeguard and swim instructor at my local YMCA, and over the summer I work 40+ hours a week at my neighborhood pool. In addition, I babysit frequently.

Thank you so much for assessing my chances of being admitted at Colgate!

It looks good and moving it up to ED2 will definitely help.

Memory 92 - When are you supposed to hear from Colgate regarding ED2?

I am supposed to hear within 4 weeks of when I applied, which was earlier this week, so most likely by the first week of March.

I think it seems like you have a good chance. You’re probably more qualified than I am. Are you applying for aid, though? Because since Colgate’s need blind, so being able to pay would help.

Deke315 - yes I need quite a bit of aid. I was unaware that Colgate was not need-blind until you mentioned it. Does that mean I have very little chance of getting in?

No. They try to be need-blind as much as possible, but when it gets down to the wire and they’re running low on aid money, it can be a factor. Since you’re EDII, they’ll read your app earlier so it might not matter at all in your case. If you are accepted, though, they’ll meet 100% of demonstrated need.

With 40% of the class receiving aid and an average award of $40,400, many, many students get in that need a lot of aid, so don’t worry about it!

Let us know!

thank you so much to everyone and i certainly will let you all know!
