Hi,
I am a current high school senior applying to universities soon and I want an honest opinion on my shots at getting into college.No EDs, but I plan on applying to the engineering school, regular decision for: Cornell University, Columbia University, UPenn, Carnegie Mellon, John Hopkins, NYU, UVA, and Virginia Tech.

SAT Score(kinda low ik. took the december SAT waiting on scores): 2000
630: Reading

570: Writing

Location: Northern Virginia
Recommendations: junior physics Teacher(who also run my schools science olympiad and robotics club) and current math teacher who teachers both of my math classes

So how are my chances?? I am hoping for the SAT and ACT score to go up as I have retaken both and am awaiting scores. I plan on majoring in either mechanical or electrical engineering or a similar field, but I havent quite decided yet.I only feel like I may be lacking in ECs but what do you guys think??

i think you have good chances at NYU, UVA, and carnegie, with the rest being reaches just because they are so selective and admissions can be pretty random there. your chances at your reach schools will be even higher if you can bring your scores up (but in case if you dont, your act is still fine to send) i wish you the best of luck!!

I feel like my lack of ECs hold me back the most, and to some extent my standardized tests, but at this point, I really don’t know how well I fare compared to some other applicants in the same field. I’d love to chance you back, but I have such poor judgement, I honestly feel clueless when it comes to evaluating even whether or not I have a shot at some of these schools.
