Planning to Apply to:

CSU San Diego
CSU San Louis Obispo

UC Santa Cruz

UC Irvine
UC San Diego
Georgia Tech

Please Recommend more schools to me .. Thanks!

james04:

UCSD: Slight Reach
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safe Match

nvm .... .....

I have your UC GPA at 3.50 if that Biology course was the summer before 9th grade, but I have your UC GPA at 3.46 if that biology course was the summer between 9th and 10 grades (meaning it counts as a 10th grade course).

(The way I compute this is I add your 21 Bs, your 6 As, and your 1 C as follows: (21 x 3) + (6 x 4) + (1 x 2), then I add 8 points for the capped honors courses, then I divide by the total semester hours of courses (28)).

Your SAT test scores are slightly above average for the schools you are interested in, but those AP scores are quite poor. In my opinion you need a 650 in that last SAT II test to have the following be your chances:

UCSD--reach
UCSB/UCI--slight reach
UCD--match to slight reach
UCSC--match
UCR/UCM--safe match

As far as the other schools:
CSU San Diego--match
CSU San Louis Obispo--reach
CSU Pomona--safe match
Georgia Tech--reach

Another thing that is going to hurt your chances at some schools is that so many of your Bs were B minuses. (you had 11 B minuses, 11 Bs, and 4 B pluses in the last 3 years--of course, it's better that you got B minuses than C pluses--so I'll give you that).

Personally, I think the best schools on this list that you will get into will be UC Santa Cruz and San Diego State (CSU San Diego). Also, UC Davis is a slight possibility. Nothing wrong with any of these schools--they all rank highly, but you might want to also consider schools that have majors you are interested in--even if out-of-state. For example I notice you have some interest in environmental science--so Oregon might be a good choice (and UCSC has a good program in this--as does UCSB if you can get in there).

Maybe you are interested in business--then consider Oregon, UC Riverside, UC Merced, Indiana University (Bloomington), or Univ of Illinois.

UCSC has a good program in computer sciences or computers and business.

UC Davis is great for medical sciences--though that doesn't appear to be your major interest.

Anyway, you get the idea. Let us know what you are interested in and then people on here might be able to help.

Good luck.

Im intrested in Engineering but i suck at math so maybe business, with less math.

james04:

UCSD: Reach (Engineering)
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safe Match

ok how about Purdue, Indiana Bloomington, Washington University (DC), illinois - Urbana ?

anyone??.............

bump.......

Well for business the best match and best school would be san diego state, they are ranked very highly in business. but for engineering definately go for cal poly slo, they have an awesome engineering department; but make sure thats what major you want to do because it is very hard to switch majors at slo.

safety for business would be ucr and safety for engineering would be cal poly pomona
