Chances please

hi. my stats are below (not very good, but i am retaking almost everything, and i usually improve a lot). i would really appreciate anyone giving me my chances.
I attend a semi-private, boarding school that does not rank or provide gpas.
GPA: n/a but it would prob. be low around 3.1
SAT:1960 (700M, 650CR, 610W) i think i can pull my CR and W by at least 100pts.
ACT: 29 (i am also retaking)
SATIIs: havent talken these yet

ECs:
freshman year: math team, i won numerous awards
Soph: varsity softball, Habitat for Humanity member, Mu altha theta, member of Northwestern Medical Explorers,
Junior: Fall Wing Guide ( leadership role in wing), secretary for Northwestern Medical Explorers, Habitat for Humanity member, traveled to France for schol trip
Senior: I plan on continuing H4H. I cannot cont. North.Med.EX. for travel reasons but I will be a member of Future Doctors.
ummm, i think im missing some ECS
soph-senior year, i have done 3hrs of workservice a week
(volunteer work for school)
also i have 100+hours community service
i have had a lot of travel experience to foreign countries
will be taking AP for AB calc senior year, and maybe 1 or 2 other APs
i realize my gpa/class rank put me at a disadvantage
my grades junior year were consid. worse than most
but i will have amazing recs and very good essays, i feel that i have some personal ext. circumstances that may help a little to make up for my poor grades.
what do you think?
i appreciate any advice you can give

also, i am interested in going into medicine. Is Barnard a good match for those interests? Barnard was my dream school for a long time but my career aspirations have changed.

Lynn,
the biggest problem with your stats is your GPA. The admissions process begins with the GPA. The SAT is used to confirm your ability. Higher SATs might make you look like a slacker to the committee. Your GC should be fully cognizant of the extenuating circumstances so that he or she can compose that amazing recommendation. You will need the first semester Senior year to show the GPA improvement, so apply RD.
Your SAT is not too far from the average at Barnard which I would estimate at just below 2100. The writing score should be improved as Barnard considers itself a community of writers. Do you have anything that you do that other members of the Barnard community might not do? Many are members of service clubs; not many play the tuba or have mastered Tibetan throat singing.

thanks for the repy. that helps.
