School: public with 300 kids in my grade
GPA : 3.52 unweighted
3.75 weighted
Class rank: none
activites: math, knowledge bowl, jv football, summer baseball team, winter hockey league, chess team, science olympiad, and tutoring.
ACT: 28
Best in each section based off of 2 Act's
Math-36, Science-31, Reading-24, Grammar-26
so my composite would be 29
I am also going to retake it in september for my third and last time. I have a private tutor now to help me, and I know that I will improve because I am improving on practice tests.
Sat 2's- Math-800, Bio-650
Awards- Quiz Bowl Nationals and PAC
Baseball team- first in regionals
Science O- first in state for 2 events, and 2nd in state for 1 event, 1st in regionals in 1, and 2nd in regionals for 1.

Volunteering for about 20 hours at library. I'm not sure if tutoring counts for this, but if it does, an extra 100 hours.

I have a total of 2 ap's sophomore year, 5 junior year, and i signed up for 3 senior year. The rest of my classes are mainly honors or required classes. Maybe 1 or 2 electives my freshman year. Otherwise, my course load is very rigorous. Mainly A's in math, a couple of A-'s, 1 B+, and 2 B's in AP Calc AB. I redeemed myself and got 2 A's in Ap Calc BC. So, pretty much i'm a math guy. I also have a 115 on the AMC 12. I got a 3 on the AIME, which is horrible, i know.

I got a 4 in Calc BC with a 4 subscore for AB, a 3 in geography, a 3 in euro, and a 3 in us history. They aren't that great of scores.

Oh ya, i am from out of state also. If you need anything else, please ask.

bump...........

bump bump bump

hey, alright, here's what i think
btw im thinking about applying to cornell, not sure yet
but here we go:
test scores are erratic, some extremely good, some not so good, i think if anythings gonna be the killer tho, itll be the GPA, although good, its not outstanding and you havnt taken too many AP's (though im not one to talk)
i def think you have a shot, you just need to push your EC'S especially the ones you were most dedicated to.
comm service: standard
math stuff: awsome

good luck~

Ya, for ap's, i have more than everyone in my grade except for 10 or less. AP's at my school aren't easy. They are more time consuming then college classes. Its dumb because the teachers think that the way we are treated is similar to the way in college, which is not true. We get like 3 hours of homework from each one. My gpa is low, but then again, they look at weighted and it will jump up to 3.8 minimum by the time i apply, which is kind of good. Community service is low, and i'm trying to get more now. My Ec's are good but not like others applying. Ya, otherwise from there I don't know. I'm retaking the ACT and my newest practice test score my tutor gave me was a 31.5. So I know I will have at least a 30 for the real one.

"you havnt taken too many AP's (though im not one to talk)"

Uhhh correct me if I'm wrong but he's taken 10 AP's. If that's not enough than I don't know what is.

"I have a total of 2 ap's sophomore year, 5 junior year, and i signed up for 3 senior year."

Although the wording is a bit confusing... Do you mean you took 2 AP's soph, and 3 Junior for a total of 5? Or 2 soph and 5 junior? Either way you've taken plenty of AP's. One thing I would worry about though is the decline in senior year. Colleges like to see you keeping up the workload and increasing your AP course load or keeping it the same, not decreasing it. Somethign to think about, although since you took five many junior year this may not matter.

Also, don't know if you know this already or not, but you can't mix and match scores for the ACT. It sounded like you might be depending on this. Only one ACT composite score from one date is counted for most colleges, not the best of each section from different dates.

Anyways I think you have a very good shot, providing you have alright essays and recs. You have excellent grades for the most part

Thanks for the help. I have 10 total AP's, including 3 senior year. The reason I have 3 is because of scheduling conflicts and ap options. There aren't many options left for me to do. Its not like I can go and just randomly take AP's. Plus, the rest of my classes are either required, literature and arts/music which i am lacking, or business classes to show that I am interested in business.
