Chances PLEASE

Any help or advice or feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks =D

I am planning to apply to: NYU, Cornell, Tufts, USC, Cal Poly SLO, and all of the UC's, to satisfy my uberly asian mom, but I only care about UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, and UCD. I'm going undecided at all the school except NYU, where I am applying to their film school.

GPA: 4.0 unweighted, 4.3
SAT: 800 Math, 710 Writing, 610 Reading (2120 total)
SAT II: 800 Math 2C, 710 Physics (retaking physics in a week)
Classes:
9th Grade: Geometry Enriched, Lit/Writing, Biology, Spanish 2, PE 9, Intro to Business (there were no possible honors classes for me to take)
10th Grade: Alg II/Trig, World History, World Lit, Spanish 3, PE 10 (fricking PE...), Law, Chemistry Honors
11th Grade: Pre-Calculus Honors, US History, Marketing, B/W Photography, Physics Honors, Contemp Lit, Stats AP
12th Grade: Japanese 1, Brit Lit, International Business, Gov/Econ, Calculus BC AP, Physics AP, Photography Workshop

Clubs: I have been a part of FBLA for 4 years. I competed at state and got 9th place in international business. I have been a part of peer tutorial for two years and tutor for about 6 hours per week. I have been in NHS for two years. I am involved in National Art Honor Society. I am also the co-photographer in chief in our school's WORD club, which is essentially an online yearbook. I started a snowboarding club, but it is not officially recognized by the school because of liability issues.

I don't know if this counts as work experience as far as colleges go. But I have been running a tennis stringing business out of my garage since 6th grade. I post ads online and created business cards and the like. This takes up about 1-2 hours a day.

I am also applying to NYU's film school. I have extremely kick ass photographs which I am sending in as my portfolio. However, as far as my EC's go that correlate with film, I only have my photography experience and National Art Honor Society. I believe that my 4 page dramitization that they require is amazing, but that's all subjective... as are the photographs I suppose.

oh and I'm asian.... but I'm taiwanese so I could technically be pacific islander right?

Also, I went to the east coast and visited NYU, Cornell, Tufts, Brown, and Columbia. I absolutely hated Brown and Columbia, but I loved NYU, Cornell, and Tufts. Can you guys give me some other colleges that you think I might want to look into on the east coast? Thank you lots

Love,

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCB/UCLA: Safe Match
UCSD: Safety
UCI/UCD: Safety

Speaking on the subject of Tufts only since I'm a senior there -- stats-wise you would have a chance, but did you not do any community service in addition to peer tutoring?

Peer tutoring is definitely where most of my community service comes from. I have also done many things through the other clubs I'm involved im. (FBLA, NHS,NAHS, and the like) The only other consistent community service I've done is helping teach business classes at a nearby middle school. Where I helped out about two hours per week.

Well, Tufts' big thing now is "active citizenship" -- it's being implemented across all curricula, from engineering to humanities to social sciences, etc. so I would try to talk about that kind of thing in your Tufts essays/application. Otherwise you just look like a kid who has good grades -- so do the other 15,000 who apply. Good luck!

sweet sweetness, thanks a lot for the advice lolabelle
