Your SAT 2's ,make a difference, till they come, I cant say

As with ranking, can you estimate say top 10%? or summat?

Firstly, thanks a lot for your reply! :)

hmm. I don't know my rankings but would say that I'm above average. I'm currently studying in one of the top junior colleges in my country. I'm worried about my grades though. They haven't been fantastic. For last year's final examinations I got 2 As (Physics and Chemistry) and 2 Bs (Economics and Math). This year, I got a D for Chem in the preliminary exams.

I'm applying to the school of engineering and did a 3 wk industrial attachment at an engineering firm last year. Do you think this will help?

Also, I have taken SAT tests in phy math2 and chem.. what kinda score do you think I will need?

well, i would say to really support your app, 750+ in all.. altho a 700+ should do fine. the B's wont kill you but watch the D.. that can

okay.. got my SAT subj test results tdy..
got 800 for phy, chem and math 2.
do you think tt can make up for my grades and sat1? i heard standardized tests arent tt impt in rice's app process..

my stats werent too different.. althouhg my class rank was 2 and I am a US citizen, ven tho I applied from abroad..

I think you have a fair shot at it... my opinion wont change anything./. and nothing can be lost by applying... so go for it and hope for the best

yupp. guess i'm giving it a shot. only thing is that i'm wondering if i'm applying to too many "reach" schools.. like rice. fair chance? which kinda schools do u think would be a match for eg?

u know... what your stats dont tell me is this: who are you?
If your essays rock the socks off them, then no.. apply to like 2 safeties that you like.. and the rest can be reaches....

Rice is hard to get into, but from my few months here, it was TOTALLY worth it :)

i agree by stats you shouldn't worry. they are more than enough to be seriously considered. now that you have all that out of the way, it's time to move on to rec's and essays. how you present yourself will be very important. i think rice is pretty international-friendly. what kind of school are you looking for? georgia tech for example would be a match and has really good engineering, but on the other hand its nothing like rice.

very true... Rice is intl. friendly for admissions many friends are international students in the class of 2010
