not to be rude or harsh
but i honestly think you have almost no chance whatsoever cause your sat's are incredibly low

You have a decent chance to be admitted to the school of general studies.
Its a 2yr program which guarantees admission to the liberal arts program if you have a B average. I doubt you will get much financial aid however since NYU is not very generous with its poor endowment. If you are a urm or part of an underrepresented group, your chances are somewhat better.

"SAT score: 1140"
Not to be Rude or Harsh.
Sorry but, You have no chance whatsoever.

Is your SAT score of 1140 for verbal and math only, or for verbal, math, and writing combined?

Regardless, you will definitely be on the low end of the pool in that respect. I wouldn't say that you have no chance for admission - frankly, that's presumptuous - but higher test scores never hurt. If you can, get better test scores. If that's not possible, focus on writing fantastic essays. Good luck.

I'd strongly suggest retaking your SAT's. You still have time to take the November or even December ones and have your scores sent in by the January 15 RD deadline. I'm not sure you even would qualify for GSP w/ your SAT. My friend w/ a 1380 is in GSP & another w/ a 1280, but that's the lowest figure I've heard. Good luck, but if you stand pat NYU is definitely a reach.

Yeah, I know the SAT's are low. It's just verbal and math combined.

I hate how they put so much emphasis on the tests. I can't help that I take more time to read passages and do the math problems. It's just the way I am.

Well, since you're applying as a journalism major, a standout essay might help you more than the usual applicant.

Yeah, I'm also thinking of applying to Syracuse. I've heard good things about Newhouse.

yeah but even though most of your stats are below the average i mean you might still have something that will stand out in your essay and catch thier eye...so you never know but i dont want to give you too much false hope so probably not.
