Chances Please

Hello All!

Williams has been my first choice college for quite some time now. I visited mutiple times, did an overnight stay, and have an upcoming interview scheduled. However, I was uncomfortable applying early decision to a school, so I decided to go EA to Yale, since it was nonbinding. I'm just looking for a barometer as to my potential RD chances to Williams. Thanks again, I appreciate it.

My science teacher, who has been around for over 30 years, told me privately my school typically hasnt had very much luck with Williams. Hopefully, I'll be able to break that trend. Thanks again.

You have very strong credentials and will get in somewhere good. Unfortunately for you, as a white suburbanite from New Jersey without a hook or near-perfect numbers, Williams is a long shot in the current hypercompetitive admissions climate. Sounds like your SAT I's and courseload will help you, but your grades and AP scores will not. You certainly have a chance, but unless your piano playing is beyond exceptional (like best in the region) or your running is good enough to make an immediate impact on the varsity team, it's probably a smart move to moderate your expectations and apply to some schools similar to Williams where your numbers alone might make you stand out from the hordes of similar applicants. Williams/Yale are reaches, Haverford/Bowdoin/Middlebury/Wesleyan/Carleton might be reasonable target schools, and schools like Colgate, Bates, Kenyon, Grinnell, Macalaster would be likely admits.

isnt solo performance at carnegie hall pretty cool?
thats at least a semi hook
u cant be crap to get stage time like that...
