Chances... Please

I'm applying to business programs at the following schools:

Cornell
NYU
Boston University
Boston College
Babson College
UMD-College Park
Villanova
Syracuse

My high school is public, but it is an arts/technology magnet school, thus you have to apply for admission. You apply to a specific "prime", and I am studying business.

GPA: 3.6
SAT: 1950(M: 650 V: 620 W:680)
SAT 2: US History 670 Math 1 620

Basically, I've always been on the advanced track at my school, but I slacked off freshman and sophmore year.(My definition of slacked off is more B's than A's) Junior and Senior year I pulled it together, so I'm hoping the colleges will see the progression. This is also why my GPA is low.

Junior Year Classes/Final Grades

(GT is a step above honors and a step below AP for my school, but GT classes are only offered when an AP is not offered)

AP English Literature : A
AP US History: A
GT Chemistry: A
Honors Physics: A
GT Accounting: A
Trig. w/ Algebra: A
HTML/JAVA Programming: A
Spanish 3: B

Senior Year Classes/ First Semester Grades

AP British Literature: B
AP Computer Science: A
AP European History: A
AP Calculus AB: A
GT ISM: A

along with some unimportant elective classes that are graduation requirements

EC: Varsity Soccer(3 Years): Captain Senior Year, Most Improved Freshman Year, MVP Senior Year

Varsity Tennis(2 Years): Most Improved Junior Year

I've consistently held a job since sophmore year, and I am currently self-employed. I run my own online retail business.

Member of FBLA

Volunteer Work for different Food Kitchens and Organizations for helping those in need

Summer Camp Job: This is very important to me. I am a Mountain Trips Leader at one of the top overnight boys summer camps across the US. This requires an 8 week dedication of roughly 80/week. Not your regular summer camp job, this requires an immense amount of responsibility.

I am confident with my essay, it is well-written and displays leadership skills.

Thanks for your time.

please chance me

Cornell-no chance
NYU-slim chance
Boston University-slim chance
Boston College-slim chance
Babson College-in
UMD-College Park-in
Villanova-in
Syracuse-in

heh, wow, yeah, it's true that you have only a little chance of getting into Cornell's business program, especially if you're applying to AEM. Just to let you in on a little secret, most people apply to other majors/schools at Cornell and then transfer to AEM after freshman year, it's a lot easier to get in that way.

I dont understand why you say slim chance for BU, yet it comes up as a safety school when I use Counselor-O-Matic on PrincetonReview.com

Cornell- Reach
NYU- very very slight reach
BU- match
BC- very very slight reach
Babson-match
UMD/Syracuse-safety
Villanova-slight safety

if it's the caroll school of management for BC... then a definite reach

Cornell - Reach
NYU - Reach
Boston University - Slight reach
Boston College - Slight reach
Babson College - Slight reach
UMD-College Park - Match
Villanova - Match
Syracuse - Match

any other opinions would be appreciated

Might want to look at Holy Cross.

Babson is not a reach...It is a match and you'd probably get some money

Anyone who says otherwise has never applied to Babson

Yeah thats what i was thinking...

maybe your retail business is much bigger than i imagine- but if it just a little online store then my opinions would have to be based on the fact that you have little business experience (i could be wrong) this is just based on going to high school with a kid who is the youngest CEO in america so i know people who have succeeded in the business world before the age of 18.

NYU Stern- i'm sorry but you have very little chance of getting in- although it never hurts to apply to a dream school. NYU is ranked 5th (i believe) of undergrad business schools in the country. That is the equivilant of University of Penn regular.

Cornell i would also say was a reach but maybe not as much.

As far as the others are concerned- i would say most are matches but i wouldnt say any are SAFETIES. the problem with undergrad business schools are they are so much more selective than regular colleges. (unless you are instate for Maryland?) you should think about applying to some non-business programs (just in case)

but i really think that you will get into at least two of the schools you are applying to (although i hope more)

Your assumptions about my business experience are a definite understatement, but thank you for your response.
