2. Honor Societies: National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Math Honor Society(Events Coordinator), Spanish Honor Society.
3. Volunteer Work: I have over 450 hours in the hospital, library, red cross, and homeless shelter. Also I am a memeber of an executive teen board in the library.
4. Other Clubs: Mock Trial(juror), culture club (secretary), key club, yearbook, writing and literature workshop(president),amnesty, habitat for humanity, british exchange.
5. part of a youth leadership forum in my city(not one of those national leadership forum stuff. this works with respect to my city only and consists of only 8 kids)
6.viola for 8 years.
7. I worked this summer as an intern in a local newspaper. last 2 summers I worked for my mom's company as a receptionist/secretary.
Awards: National Merit Commended, AP Scholar, Honor Roll all 4 years, ect.
I am pretty sure that I can write stellar essays and get really good recommendations from counselor and teachers(expecting a great one from my english teacher because I really stood out). Also, I think I will do well in the interviews.

What do you guys think?????????????????????

looks good

Maybe raise the wiritng/reading scores for an Enlish major

Are you a R.B candidate?

Otherwise, I think you may be in...

your SAT could be a bit higher......

being R/B doesnt matter. you can still be accepted and not get into R/B...

looks pretty good to me, too...good luck!!

It does matter because that begs the question are you in it just for the prog or for Rice in the admission ppl's minds..

i think that reviewing the student's application holistically, including the interview, it will be clear whether or not they are applying just for the program. Checking off the "interested in applying for R/B" box alone isn't conclusive enough to suggest that you're in it just for the program.

Lol, I'm just reiterating what I heard from my friend at Rice who's a senior that is an interviewer.

ok i feel better. i was recently rejected from dartmouth, and so i've lost some confidence. and i dont think i'm applying to the rb program seeing as i have no clue what that it is. someone care to enlighten me?

Whoah! Apsen are you serious? I checked that box just because I figured it couldn't hurt and I might be interested in going to med school. Are you telling me that they are going to look into that and make assumptions about whether I really want to go to rice or not?

I'd never heard that before, either... I also checked the box, thinking "why not" ...but I got in, anyway. They're not going to reject you just b/c you thought you might want to do the RB program. If you're skilled enough to have a shot at RB, then you should be able to get into Rice anyway.

I'm not saying they'll reject you on the basis of that, but they'll just look closely.

you are FIRST admitted into Rice... irrespective of major... (except musi and archi)

THEN the RB applicants (who are good enuf for Rice) are reviewed and anyone good enough for RB is chosen...

Yes, I think that was established :]

true.. just clarifying
