GPA: 3.6w school does not rank
SAT: 580v 590m 600w 1170/1600 1770/2400
pretty good ec's
good essays
amazing recs
ethnicity: Hispanic (from Miami)
already accepted to wisconsin

Not too great a shot, especially since you applied this late and that GPA is weighted not unweighted. Being hispanic will definiely help since the university hasn't stopped using AA yet. I'd say...25% chance. It would be a lot easier to say with a recalculated UMich GPA. Browse the forums to see how to do that.

Yea, please tell us you applied earlier! And you're out of state....so that's definitely not in your favor..GPA and ACT/SAT could be higher.

@Sub, have you not heard the scuttlebut? Proposal 2 is in effect. That injunction was no good. Federal appeals court said UMich has to stop AA.

Check out this thread: Sixth Circuit: Michican Must Stop Using AA Immediately http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=283947

OK, well AA or not, this guy has low stats all around. The sat and GPA is below Umich averages, and AA probably will not help enough to get you in.

Yeah, well I just saw that a few days and am assuming he didn't just send his application in. It's probably complete by now which means when he applied AA was in effect. Correct me if I am wrong..

I know in-state students with higher GPAs and test scores than the OP who got deferred or rejected. The only thing he has going for him is being Hispanic, so I'd give him about a 20% chance.
