Hey! I go to Southridge!

Whats up? Your chances are ok, 60/40

Your chances are ehh. It's a reach, and you'd really have to come across well on the essays.

I completely agree with debatechic. Very iffy...not 60/40, sorry. Your grades and course load are fine, but your ACT scores are pretty mediocre. I would suggest retaking and shooting for at least a composite of 32/33, with the reading section being the most important. Likewise, if you choose to try your luck with the SAT, aim for a score somewhere around 2200+.

Pomona places a heavy emphasis on the personal aspects of your application, and your activities, essays and reccomendations should make your passions and personality fairly obvious. All I see is an aptitude in math. You still have time and can further develop your interest in math. I would suggest doing math research at a local college or university, taking advanced math courses in the summer at a community college and entering prestigous competitions. Rack up a few national awards, possibly a publication and write an essay about something interesting other than math. Essays are key.

Good luck and remember that you have a while to refine the components of your application.

On the other hand, being on the varsity tennis team for four years, especially if you can demonstrate improvement, e.g., progressively higher ranking each year or awards, will count toward dedication in a sport.

Good luck!

would getting captain for senior year be helpful?

Definitely, leadership in an activity that you have passion for and have been involved in over the years will help!

I hate to be redundant, but the science section of your act is breaking your balls. And the adcoms might think: He's taken AP science classes, why is the act so low?
So! Either try retaking the ACT, or give the SAT a shot.
