Chances please!

Hey everyone!

I'm so jealous you lucky people are already at UCLA!!

I'm an Asian male, junior, at a top-ranked prep school on the east coast. I'm looking to study physics/engineering in college.

-Freshman - 3.66
-Sophmore - 3.48
-Junior - hopefully 3.72

ACT didn't get score back but I think I did horrible
Just took the SAT's for the second time yesterday morning, hopefully my reading is at least 630.
Also taking the Calculus AB and Chinese AP tests on Wednesday.

Extracurricular Activities
-Head of Receptions Committee
-Head of Work Job
-(Head) Peer Counseling
-Big Siblings Program
-Orchestra for 2 years
-President of Asian Club
-Assistant Information Director of ITASA(Intercollegiate Taiwanese American Student Association)
-Photoshop Editor of Yearbook
-Over 100+ hours of volunteer at Jefferson University Hospital

I will also be doing a physics lab/research at a college in Taiwan this summer for 2 months.

I am also a pretty good track athlete looking to jump at D1.
If anyone wants to know, my distances are 44'7 for the triple jump and 20'11 for long jump. Hopefully I can jump 46 feet by the end of this season. I think that'll make me a pretty marketable jumper for Big Ten or Ivy schools but maybe not quite yet for PAC 10's. Hopefully it'll help me though.

Also, I don't think anybody's gone to UCLA from my school for the last 10 years and I think there's only been 9 applications.

Thanks everyone!!!

I would definitely take the SAT again.

My stats were a lot worse than yours, lower gpa, lower SAT, less ECs, and I'm an Asian female.. so I'm pretty sure you got in.

pretty much the same stats as me except i took ap english senior year and my SAT cum was higher but i had a LOT less extracurriculars and i still got in

You might want to take SAT II Math too. I know they don't require it, but an engineer major without the SAT II Math might strike an unhappy chord with admissions.

I would say Reach, simply because your test scores are too low for an out of stater.

Reach. Slight reach if you can SAT I > 2100, SAT II > 730-750. Match if you can also raise your GPA is ~ 3.7-3.8 UW, 4.2-4.3 W.

Taiwaneseterror:

UCLA: Reach (out of state, Engineering)

I have a track friend with lower scores and they invited her to attend UCLA. Keep working hard! The coaches have alot of pull with admissions and if you're good at track and your SAT scores seem pretty good, you might be more special than you realize. you should make contact with them, maybe come to campus and try to visit, and get them to notice you. Good luck!

Yes I am planning to take MathII and Physics SAT2 in October.

I'm really looking to improve my triple jump distance to the point where I'm recruitable for big schools like UCLA. Although I doubt I'll get handpicked by the coaches, I still hope the coaches can somewhat help me out in the admission process.
