The Ivies, MIT, Caltech, Hopkins and UChicago may be out of the question. The rest, I think you’re good to go.

Thanks for reading - anyone else?

I agree with quincy. All the other schools you have good chances at besides those few.

Other opinions?

I applied EA to Tulane, MSU and W&L, if that helps anyone form an opinion.

Is there a particular program at MSU you’re interested in? Honors Coll? … btw, I’m not familiar w/ the Confucious Institute Chinese Scholarship award. Tell us about that.

MSU Confucius Institute (CI-MSU) was established in collaboration with China Central Radio and TV University under the authorization and sponsorship of China’s National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.

The Institute awarded 1 scholarship to each high school in Michigan last year, allowing 1 nominated student from each Michigan HS to take a free on-line course in Chinese through MSU. I was selected from my school, as I had already completed a full year of Chinese at the university level, which represents 8 of my 44 earned college credits. So I took a 2nd year in Chinese with them.
