I'd love to hear what you think about my chances at:
Dartmouth
Middlebury
Amherst
Williams
University of Chicago
Macalester
Carleton
Lawrence

If I've forgotten any information that might be useful, please let me know.

Your academic index score is 220--borderline for Dartmouth, Amherst and Williams.

I'd say you will probably get into 1 or 2 of these, but not all 3. It's difficult to know which ones, although I'm guessing the most likely of the three to get in for you will be Amherst.

As far as all the others, you are a match (Chicago, Macalester and Carleton)or safe match (Lawrence).

Good luck.

P.S. Essay will have to be good to get into Chicago, especially as an in-state student.

Thanks, Calcruzer! You're probably right about Amherst being most likely, especially considering another fact I forgot to mention: My mom went there.

Anybody else?

Well, yes, I would say that would definitely make Amherst the most likely then. Good luck with all of the college applications--especially your top three.

Anybody else have any thoughts? Anybody at all?

How do you calculate the academic index score?

One last bump before I leave this topic to rot...

I changed my mind... What about Middlebury?

Why would Amherst be more likely than Dartmouth or Williams? I think the legacy helps most with ED apps.

Good question... Does anybody have the answer?

Anybody at all? I promise not to hold you responsible!

For those who want to compute their own academic index score, go to this site:

Academic Index Calculator - Ivy League

The legacy helps whether you are applying ED or not. The schools would prefer that you apply ED, but won't penalize you "legacy-wise" if they are not your first choice school, or if you want to be able to see where you can get in.

OffthePrairie, I think your chances at Williams, Amherst, and Dartmouth are all about equal. If you applied ED to Amherst, you'd have a bigger tip, but remember it overenrolled last year, this year will be fierce.

Middlebury overenrolled last year, too, I hear from a current sophomore.
